This is a restaurant in Canada with a Vietnamese owner. In fact, he came to us by chance and his excitement when he told us about his dreams touched our hearts. His entrepreneurial struggles let us see that this is not just a customer, but a companion. The journey to create a Vietnamese restaurant in a foreign land, despite many difficulties but always. "Sticky rice" is known as "xôi" in Vietnam, one of the country's most popular dishes. Whether enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or as a quick snack, xôi is widely loved for its incredible variety, convenience, and affordable price.
In this project, we create an atmosphere reminiscent of Vietnam for expatriates. We trace back to the traditional patterns, colors and elements of Vietnam such as images of rotting wood, lanterns, lattice beneath the tiled roof. There are some limitations because the ceiling, floor finishing and seating models are not replaceable. In addition, the cost factor is also a limitation we need to pay attention to.
We are requested to keep all the paintings on ceiling. At first, we don't see any relationship of these paintings toward the concept we are aiming for. Then, when we know the paintings have their own stories of how they was made and who was the artist behind, we agree that it should be kept and shine in a vey unusual way.
